MIAS CTU offers an intensive Czech language course which includes not only classes of the Czech language but also classes of Czech history and culture, facultative specialized courses, and organized trips and excursions s to extend student’s knowledge of the country. In this course, students will be prepared to successfully pass the Czech language exam at B2 level which is one of the requirements to be admitted to the Czech Technical University.

The course consists of 700 classes which are divided into two semesters with the intensity of 20/25 x 45 min a week.
Applicants are required to have their studies at secondary schools successfully completed.

Admission procedure
When applying to the Masaryk Institute of Advance Study in CTU in Prague, the process is much the same as that of other European universities.
Enrolment for the school year 2023/2024 is closed due to capacity reasons.
Please follow three simple steps:
Step 1: Filled online application form
– The application is submitted electronically via the application form.
– Save your code and password. You will then be able to track the progress of your admission directly in the online application.
Step 2: Pay the admission fee (33 EUR/800 CZK)
– The general admission fee of MIAS is 33 EUR (800 CZK). Please pay the fee by credit card online after filling in the online application form. Bank charges are always paid by applicant.
– Upon payment of the fee we will include you in the admission procedure.

Step 3: Send all the required documents
Send all the required documents together with the copy of the Contract that includes your signature (must be sent via scan) electronically to Ms. Renata Ouředníková muvs-czechprepcourse@cvut.cz.
The required documents:
3.1. scan of filled and signed the Contract;
3.2. scan of passport (main page);
3.3. proof of completed secondary education including the transcript of records, translated officially to English or Czech language.
Note: If you are in your final year of high school, provide the latest transcript of records.
Wait for the decision of the admission procedure and after you will receive payment instructions from MIAS.
In case of admission decision please follow next 6 steps:
Step 1: Pay the one-year tuition before 5th of June, 2023.
Tuitions: 4060 EUR (99,000 CZK) / one academic year
Tuition fees can be paid exclusively by bank transfer after we issue the billing details. Click here to pay the one-year tuition (2023/2024).

Step 2: Get accommodation in Prague and confirmation of accommodation at a CTU dormitory.
The university accommodation is inexpensive and conveniently located. Rooms are usually shared by two or more students. Rooms are equipped with a bed, table, chair, wardrobe, shoe cabinet, table light. Bathrooms are mostly shared by two or three rooms. Dormitories have unlimited high-speed internet access (approx. 800 CZK / semester). See the CTU dormitories price list.
Czech Technical University has several dormitories located in different parts of Prague. The nearest dormitory to MIAS is Masarykova Dormitory.

Step 3: MIAS CTU in Prague will issue a Letter of Acceptance.
Step 4: Apply for a visa (if required) at the Czech Embassy in your country.
For accurate and up-to-date information about visa procedures, see the website of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic.
An application for a long-term visa for the purpose of studies is processed within 60 days, the whole process of obtaining a visa may take 3-6 months, so it is recommended to apply at your nearest Czech Embassy well in advance.

Step 5: Get your health care insurance.
Every student is required to have health insurance coverage while enrolled at the Masaryk Institute of Advance Study, CTU Prague.
If you are coming from the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland, bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and upon arrival, register at the Insurance Centre for Foreigners. The centre will issue an official document which will ensure you to get health service whilst in the Czech Republic for free.
If you are coming from a non-EU country, in order to get a visa, you are obliged to have health care insurance. Upon arrival in the Czech Republic you have to get a “long-term complex health insurance” for the time of your enrolment. The average price for one year insurance is approximately 300 Euro.
A new amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic will come in force on August 2nd, 2021 (see https://www.mvcr.cz/soubor/prehled-zmen-provedenych-novelou-zakona-o-pobytu-cizincu-s-ucinnosti-od-2-srpna-2021.aspx). According to this amendment all foreign nationals who will stay in the Czech Republic longer than 90 days must have complex health insurance with VZP (https://www.vzpforforeigners.cz/) which is state-owned insurance company.
