Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies (MIAS) is part of the Czech Technical University (CTU), located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. CTU is the oldest technical university in Central Europe and the oldest civilian technical university in the world. According to the prestigious QS World University Ranking, CTU is the 9th best university in Central and Eastern Europe and the long-standing best technical university in the Czech Republic. MIAS endeavours to connect engineering with business. The Institute offers study programmes delivered in Czech and in English, and educates managers with highly specialized skills, good at languages and ready for trade and industry, including leading tech companies. See Why Study at MIAS.
There are three main pillars of MIAS activities. The first pillar is Economics and Management. The background of a strong technical university gives this study field an added value that cannot be obtained at any other university. At the moment students can apply to a three-year bachelor’s degree programme in Economics and Management and a two-year master’s degree programme in Innovation Project Management, both accredited in Czech and also English language. The second pillar is Engineering Pedagogy; in undergraduates’ programmes (currently only in Czech language), students prepare for the future profession of technical teachers. The third pillar is a language education. MIAS provides high-quality language education not only to its students but also as a part of lifelong learning programmes. A specialized MIAS department called JASPEX plays a major role in language teaching and offers several types of internationally certified language exams.
MIAS consists of 80 academic staff supported by visiting lecturers, supervisors and professional consultants; and more than 950 students in accredited undergraduate and graduate programmes with hundreds of participants attending professional, qualification and language courses and seminars. MIAS participates in numerous research projects, both domestic and international, and provides advisory services and training programs for companies, professional bodies, public agencies, as well as for other components of the CTU.
