You are responsible for obtaining any other necessary documents. To find your consulate, please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic’s website , and make sure to check the document requirements on your country’s embassy/consulate website.

Do not forget to bring the original documents you will receive from us:
– Letter of Acceptance
– Contract
– Confirmation of accommodation (usually recommended from SUZ dorm)

The standard requirements include the following documents:

  • An international travel document/passport (with a minimum validity of 3 months beyond the expected expiration of your long-term visa).
  • A bank statement reflecting the necessary funds for your Czech Republic stay.
  • A statement of your criminal record.
  • Any documents you obtain independently should be translated into Czech by an authorized court translator.

9. Book the appointment at the embassy

To find information about your embassy or consulate general at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  of the Czech Republic, visit their official websites. If you need any information about how to make an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact us.

10. Submit Your Application with Documents:

We advise you to thoroughly review the document prerequisites on the official website of your embassy or consulate in your home country. Remember that all required documents must not be older than 180 days at the time of your application.

11. Collect Your Visa:

The consular department where you have applied for a long-stay visa will contact you by email or phone about the status of your application. Please note that the waiting and processing time by the embassy can take up to 120 days. If your visa is approved, you will be asked to present yourself at the embassy or consulate general with a valid passport (the passport must be valid for at least three months after the scheduled end date of your future long-term visa) and valid health insurance. You will need to arrange Private Comprehensive Health Insurance through VZP for Foreigners.

Every student is required to have health insurance coverage while enrolled at the Masaryk Institute of Advance Study, CTU Prague.

If you are coming from the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland, bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and upon arrival, register at the Insurance Centre for Foreigners. The centre will issue an official document which will ensure you to get health service whilst in the Czech Republic for free.

If you are coming from a non-EU country, in order to get a visa, you are obliged to have health care insurance. Upon arrival in the Czech Republic you have to get a “long-term complex health insurance” for the time of your enrolment. The average price for one year insurance is approximately 300 Euro.

A new amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic will come in force on August 2nd, 2021 (see https://www.mvcr.cz/soubor/prehled-zmen-provedenych-novelou-zakona-o-pobytu-cizincu-s-ucinnosti-od-2-srpna-2021.aspx). According to this amendment all foreign nationals who will stay in the Czech Republic longer than 90 days must have complex health insurance with VZP (https://www.vzpforforeigners.cz/) which is state-owned insurance company.

12. Refund Policy in Case of Visa Denial:

Our students are rarely denied visas. Nevertheless, if your visa application is unsuccessful, a refund will be issued. For details, please refer to the contract you signed at the beginning.
