This spring Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies had hosted 27 students from 8 technical universities which belong to the ATHENS network. For participants of the Data Management Strategies course, lectures and workshops were prepared by MIAS and CIIRC academic staff as well as by business professionals from DefSec Innovation Hub, Eaton European Innovation Centre, IBM, MSD, and SAP.
With regard to the feedback from last year course attendees, the benefits of personal meetings and subsequent discussions with company representatives were highly appreciated.
During the week various topics were discussed – for example artificial intelligence, data management, cognitive warfare, design thinking and project management. The lecture on data in finance was held by Dr. Tuugi Chuluun from Loyola University Maryland who was named Fulbright Distinguished Scholar and currently teaches and conducts research at MIAS.
We acknowledge all lecturers for their kind cooperation, time, dedication, experience, know-how and enthusiasm they provide to students.
ATHENS Week also includes the cultural programme within European Dimension Activities. Its aim is to learn more about the organizing institution and the host city. Incoming students had opportunity to visit the National Technical Museum and the guided tour of the historical building of the National Theatre.
ATHENS Programme is steadily gaining popularity among MIAS students who can take courses organized by partner universities and earn 2 ECTS credits. In past rounds our students had accomplished for instance the course Global Warming and Ecological Milan! at the Politecnico di Milano, the course Spanish economy and navigation in the 15th to 18th centuries at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid or the course Circular economy and ecodesign. The urban mine case at the Mines ParisTech.
