Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies had together with other CTU faculties actively participated in the November round of the ATHENS programme and hosted 30 foreign students from nine leading technical universities who had signed up for the Data Management Strategies course. Throughout the week, academics from MIAS and CIIRC as well as professionals from business and industry gave lectures.
The concept of connecting academic sphere with business environment has proven meaningful, as it provides participants with an excellent opportunity to learn more about the use of specific tools and solutions and to discuss them instantly with experts. Students got valuable insights to a diverse range of topics (e.g. artificial intelligence, data management and project management, security and privacy protection) delivered by representatives of the companies DefSec Innovation Hub, Eaton European Innovation Centre, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SAP and Valeo Autoklimatizace. Many thanks go to all the lecturers for their willingness to share their know-how, experience and enthusiasm with the students.

The academic part of the course was complemented by a cultural programme – an excursion to the Czech National Bank, a trip to National Technical Museum and a visit to the State Opera in Prague were organized for incoming students.
Since the ATHENS project is carried out as an exchange programme, some MIAS students had attended intensive week courses at other European technological universities – for instance Politecnico di Milano and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
