On April 22-29, 2024, STAFF WEEK was held on the grounds of the MIAS CTU in cooperation with the International Department and the Institute of Language Studies, which brought together English, German, French, Italian and Czech speakers who are involved in teaching a professional foreign language (VFL) in tertiary education.

An incredible group with many common interests came together. There were qualified teachers, didactics and linguists who work at universities in various European countries: Germany, Georgia, Switzerland, France, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Estonia, and for MIAS, of course, the Czech Republic.

Just the list of countries and languages ​​shows that it was a diverse group. And the content was also varied, with a sampling of discussions on different systems of language teaching and its evaluation, applications, textbooks, ChatGPT and artificial intelligence. One of the benefits was the participation of students, who discussed their experiences with language classes at MIAS on an international panel. Teachers and students told each other what motivates them – and what discourages them. Thanks also to the students and teachers who agreed to the presence of an international teaching group in the authentic teaching of the English language subject.
