The Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies successfully hosted the second edition of the Business Immersion Summer School for students from the University of Texas at San Antonio – Carlos Alvarez College of Business.
Over the course of the program, American students worked on real-world business challenges for traditional Czech manufacturers Koulier, LASVIT, and Ton. The initial kick-off meeting with company representatives took place online, allowing students to discuss project briefs and early ideas directly with industry partners. During the first week of their stay, they visited company facilities and showrooms, where they gained deeper insight into product portfolios, production processes, corporate culture, and overall company operations.
A series of lectures and workshops led by both MIAS academic staff and industry professionals formed an integral part of the learning experience. These sessions focused on key topics such as the Czech business environment, design thinking, creativity, conversational AI, intercultural communication, and presentation skills.
At the conclusion of the event, students presented the results of their work and recommendations to the company representatives. They highly appreciated both the quality of the outcomes and the value of the proposed solutions.
The program also featured a rich cultural agenda. Students visited the Prague State Opera and the Strahov Monastery, explored Prague’s historic city centre on a guided tour, and enjoyed a boat cruise on the Vltava River. Full-day excursions introduced them to the Zubrnice Open-Air Museum and the châteaux of Loučeň and Ploskovice.
This year’s Business Immersion provided participants with valuable new insights and a unique opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives and broaden their professional horizons. This international initiative effectively combined academic learning with hands-on practice and addressed real business needs in an environment shaped by technological innovation, economic uncertainty, and evolving market demands.
