CTU in Prague offers a newly accredited programme History of Technology with a full-time or combined study course History of Technology. This interdisciplinary course is designed mainly for graduates of technical or scientific universities who are interested in the history of their field of study as well as for graduates of the arts and social sciences faculties who want to specialize in a particular scientific and technical discipline and focus on professional development of its history.
Graduates will be able to carry out independent scientific research in the following areas: history of individual (selected) fields of technology; historiography; history of economic, social and auxiliary historical and technical sciences; methodology of the history of technology inventions with a view to expanding the knowledge of computing, statistical and biographic methods; history of universities of technology and other research and educational institutions; analysis of the relations of technology, thought and education; the position of technology in the educational process; technological policy with a focus on its development in the Czech Republic and European Union, a general relationship between technical and political scenes, and communication in science. Apart from universities and research institutions, this specialization can be applied in cooperation with the state administration, in creating the technological policy and assessment of technology.
